Mike Hoover – a UA alumnus, former president of the Beavers heavy engineering construction honorary society, and president, CEO and chairman of the board of Sundt Construction – recently presented the UA Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics with a check for $100,000 for its Construction Engineering Management focus.

These funds from the Beavers Charitable Trust add to the Beavers Heavy Construction Scholarship Endowment at the UA. Proceeds are awarded each year to UA students preparing for careers in heavy construction. This gift was announced in January, and comes on top of last year’s Beavers donation of $50,000 and Sundt’s donation of $25,000.

The Beavers scholarship helps support and encourage students pursuing careers in heavy civil construction such as highways, bridges, dams, airports, railroads, utilities, flood control and marine projects. The UA is one of only 46 universities that hold a Beavers scholarship endowment.
