UA CEEM Professor Receives Attention from National Media

Dr. Yi-Chang Chiu, professor of transportation engineering here at the U of A, has received attention from national media thanks to his startup app, Metropia. Fast Company, the world's leading progressive business media brand, featured Dr. Chiu's app on their website earlier this week. Metropia is designed to reduce car traffic by suggesting alternative methods of transportation to users by means of location services.  The users are incentivized by the opportunities to earn small prizes like gift certificates for Amazon, Starbucks, and Target. Metropia has performed well since launching back in March in Tucson and May in Austin, and plans to expand to other cities as soon as 2016.
