2020 grad and junior make waves at Paris Olympics

The CAEM department was represented at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Jorge Iga and Ralph Daleiden competed for Mexico and Luxembourg, respectively, during this year's Summer Games.

Iga, a 2020 civil engineering alum, earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2018 in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle relays during his time on the University of Arizona swim team.

For Mexico, he competed in the 100-meter freestyle (Heat 7) and 200-meter freestyle (Heat 3) events for swimming — finishing with times of 49.28 and 1:48.38, respectively, for both events.

Daleiden, a junior civil engineering major, qualified for the NCAA championships in the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter freestyle swimming events during his first two years at the UA.

For Luxembourg, he competed in the 100-meter freestyle (Heat 6), finishing with a time of 49.12.
