On April 7, members of the new UA chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America joined forces with the UA chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers to dominate the 2017 PSWC Design-Build/Construction competition at the ASCE Pacific Southwest Conference in Irvine, California.

This was the first time the event was offered at PSWC, ASCE's regional conference for 18 student groups in Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada. The competition required a 24-page report with project scope, design approach, schedule and staffing, materials and costs, a quality management plan, and more.

The UA's first-place team included sophomore Jessica Hinson; juniors Fernanda Fraijo, Miranda Jackson, Tina Johnsen, Robert Melvin, Nicholas Tritz and Amy White; and senior Dante Lo Greco.
