Papajohn Shows Students the Business of Engineering
Last year, professor of practice Dean Papajohn and the American Society of Professional Estimators partnered to provide a unique test of engineering students' knowledge of the business side of the industry.
Papajohn, who leads the CEEM construction engineering management emphasis and established the new University of Arizona design-build team, invited ASPE to the UA campus to hold an 11th Hour Bid Simulation – a nearly day-long, hands-on simulation that mimics the engineering project bid process, including evaluation of subcontractor bids and calculating bonds, taxes and overhead.
ASPE also offers a $5,000 scholarship for undergraduate students and conducts monthly educational programs at its local chapters.
This year, ASPE's Phoenix chapter is playing host to the simulation; the event takes place on April 1.
