Young Engineers Partake in CEEM's Summer Engineering Academy

The department held a summer camp event for high school students as part of the Summer Engineering Academy program. The program took place July 20-21st, 2015 and was led by structural engineering faculty Dr. Hongki Jo and four graduate students, Melvin Dyan (Structures), Ming Chen (Transportation), Mohamad Sadat (Geotechnical Engineering), and Michael Potucek (Water). The team led the students in various hands-on and fun activities, demo experiements, simulators, and lectures to introduce our Civil Engineering profession to future Civil Engineers. As you can see from the photos, there is equal parts seriousness and smiling involved in Civil Engineering, especially when a Popsicle stick bridge is involved.
