CEEM alumnus Dave Crawford is the 2017 recipient of Engineering News-Record, Southwest's Legacy Award.

Crawford, who retired as CEO from Sundt Construction earlier this year, got his start at the Arizona-based firm while still a freshman at the University of Arizona. He graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree from the department of civil engineering, and continued his tenure at Sundt – gradually working his way through the ranks from intern to CEO. Among the projects Crawford oversaw during his tenure as Sundt CEO was the award-winning UA Health Sciences Education Building in Phoenix completed in 2012.

ENR's Legacy Award recognizes individuals' lifetime legacy of service to the architecture, engineering and construction professions. Crawford is renowned for his advocacy of alternative-delivery methods at the state and federal levels. He was previously awarded the 2011 CEEM Distinguished Alumni Centennial Award and 2012 College of Engineering Alumnus of the Year Award from the UA.
