Doctoral student Andisheh Ranjbari – recent recipient of the Eno Center for Transportation's Rodney E. Slater Award – placed third out of almost 60 competitors in the 2016 UA Grad Slam competition for her three-minute presentation "Flexpress: A New Intercity Public Transit Service." For her efforts, she won $1,000 from the UA Office of Research and Discovery, as well as a spot in the state tournament on April 16.

The race against time was not the biggest challenge, Ranjbari said. "The hardest part was finding a balance between trying to tell the audience about everything I’m working on and making it understandable for them."

“The College of Engineering is really pleased to see our graduate students excelling in Grad Slam,” said Jim Field, the College’s assistant dean for graduate education. “It is a reflection of the fact that quality, innovation and leadership are important attributes of our graduate programs.”

Video of her final presentation is available online.
