Dr. Tribikram Kundu Receives Prestigious SHM Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Tribikram Kundu, professor of Engineering Mechanics and Structures, was recently awarded the Structural Health Monitoring Lifetime Achievement Award. The prestigious award, which was created for individuals in the SHM community who has advanced state-of-the-art through research, technology, education, and service to the community, was presented to Dr. Kundu at the 10th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring. Dr. Kundu’s many contributions to structural health monitoring were honored and recognized at the ceremony. Most notably, Dr. Kundu developed DPSM for wave propagation modeling, localized acoustic source using only six sensors, and was the chair of the yearly SPIE conference on structural health monitoring. Additionally, Dr. Kundu’s book, “Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation” is referenced on Wikipedia when the keywords “ultrasounds” or “ultrasonics” are searched. Dr. Kundu is a recipient of multiple awards including the NDE Lifetime Achievement Award from SPIE, the Research Award for Sustained Excellence from the American Society for Nondestructive Testing, and 2008 SHM Person of the Year Award. Dr. Kundu is also an invited professor in France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Poland, Japan, South Korea, India, and China.
