Dave Crawford, BS 1972, returned to his alma mater as part of the 2018 Lessons in Engineering Leadership speaker series. Crawford started working at Sundt as a laborer in 1968 to pay his way through college -- and stayed at Sundt for 48 years, serving as CEO for six. Along the way, he was elected to the National Academy of Construction and named the UA’s 2012 Alumnus of the Year. He also received News Record’s 2017 Legacy Award and serves as a board member of the Sundt Foundation, which has given more than $7.6 million to nonprofits across the United States.

He told students that some of the most important qualities in potential employees are ambition, determination, and a love for leading and accepting new challenges -- including relocating. Communication skills, trustworthiness and loyalty were also at the top of his list.
