College of Engineering students are provided with a number of resources through the ENGAGED program, or ENGineering Access, Greater Equity, and Diversity. The ENGAGED suite of services includes Summer TRACK, which is designed for students who need to catch up on academic credits to stay on track after their first year in the college. Students can take physics, Calculus 2 and a career development class in which they learn about professional competencies, leadership and the roles of engineers. Nine companies partnered with the college in 2022 through Summer TRACK. Representatives visited classrooms and led tours of job sites.

Drew Jenkins, a 2020 CAEM graduate and field engineer for Sundt Construction’s Building Group in Tucson, says he benefited greatly from professional guidance during his time in college. He has been involved with the class since Summer TRACK started two years ago and seen students get excited when they visit job sites, glimpse the inner workings of buildings, and begin to understand the processes.

“It’s exciting to come from a design mindset and go into the builder’s world,” said Jenkins.
