Terracon Foundation Awards $10K Grant to CAEM
Thanks to the hard work of associate professor and CAEM department Head Dominic Boccelli and professor Kevin Lansey, the Terracon Foundation has presented the department with a $10,000 grant for College of Engineering graduate students.
"We are grateful to Terracon and the foundation for their support,” Boccelli said. “The grant funds will help support our geotechnical graduate students and our future professional engineers."
Lansey and Boccelli worked together to apply for the grant, reinforcing the more than 25-year relationship between the College of Engineering and Terracon’s Tucson office. The company’s regional manager, Brent Borchers, has been an adjunct professor in CAEM for seven years, and its materials and geotechnical departments have employed several UA interns, according to Derek Koller, environmental department manager for Terracon Consulting, which supports the foundation.
"It was my honor and privilege to present the University of Arizona College of Engineering with a Terracon Foundation check in the amount of $10,000," Koller said. "Our ability to award these funds to the university is a demonstration of our commitment to support such an important part of our community and the development of future engineers. Terracon Foundation university grants are competitive grants that allow employee-owners to advocate for the communities we work in. I’m so proud to be an employee-owner at a firm willing into invest in the future."
